Dear members of Babel, On behalf of the Kosmoi board, I cordially invite you to the annual Kosmoi lecture and master class (25 and 26 November). The Kosmoi lecturer of 2021–2022 is Kocku von Stuckrad, professor of Religious Studies at the University of Groningen. A specialist of the cultural history of religion and the knowledge about religion in changing historical settings, he will offer a lecture and a master class. Both are open to all. 

• Lecture Entangled Scholarship: Envisioning the Future of the Study of Religion

Thursday 25 November 2021, 6 pm   (MTC 00.03)In a time of increased awareness of global injustices and hegemonies of capital, gender, race and colonial power, and in the midst of an ecological disaster that will radically alter life on this planet, the academic study of religion finds itself in a difficult position. • MA class Discourse Research between Constructionism and Radical Entanglement

Friday 26 November 2021, 11 am   (MSI 02.28)Participants will discuss some of the implications of 'radical entanglement' for discursive approaches in the study of religion. Discourse research is anchored in constructivist traditions in the social sciences, exploring the ways orders of knowledge are set up, legitimized, and 'acted out' in societal communication. Find the full abstract here.Participants are asked to read a paper in advance (more information here).Please register in time, as the number of participants will be limited (first come/first serve). Attendance for both events is free, but please register before 23 November, by e-mailing Kosmoi.Both events are planned to be on-site.
